The Juneau Rifle and Pistol Club and Juneau Nordic Ski Club are co-sponsoring the 1997 Juneau Community Biathlon Series. Races will be held at the Hank Harmon Memorial Range in January, February and March.
Our biathlons involve cross-country skiers carrying a 22 target rifle or dummy rifle three times around a 2 to 2.5 km ski course. Skiers stop at the shooting range between laps, shooting five shots standing on lap one, then five shots in the prone position on lap two. JRPC provides 22 caliber target rifles, dummy rifles and ammunition to racers on a first come, first serve basis.
Observers are welcome at all biathlons, and volunteers are needed to time racers, set up our Olympic shooting targets, and score racers.
All biathlon racers must attend a safety orientation meeting prior to race day.
